Description

Up for auction is a beautiful original illustration by poster illustrator, Bob Peak.
From Bob’s son:
This is a Drawing by my Father Bob Peak of his agent Harvey Kahn and his son Doug Kahn.
Thomas Peak
Bob was an amazing illustrator and I worked with him during the seventies
while I was a senior designer at Frankfurt Communications in NYC. We worked
on the “That’s Entertainment” movie poster. A typical project meeting with
Bob included his lawyer and accountant. He was very fast and would have roughs
in a better of a few days, which included his research time. A finished painting
was done in roughly 3 days. Prior to working with FC, I freelanced on the Rollerball
movie poster production where I fell in love with Bob’s work. I recall after signing a
contract on another poster ( I wasn’t involved with directly) Bob said he was going
out to buy some turtle neck sweaters. I asked him what color? His response was
all they have. There are many in the advertising and marketing field that have worked
and know Bob much better then me but my experience was he was always willing
to help and give advice.
The illustration measures roughly 26 x 40 and is rendered with what I believe is Conte crayon,
(oil based artists crayon) in black and brown on drawing paper. Could be Canson brand but
not sure. The paper is a single sheet and not from a pad and expensive just recalling personal
experience in the field. Art is signed by Bob Peak.
